Construction and experiments involving the use of humanized mouse models are covered by a number of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols. Broadly, the following aspects have been included and may not need additional amendments if proposed experiments follow within these specifications:
- Surgical implantation of human stromal tissues in NSG and NOD/SCID mice along with stem cell injections
- Inoculation of the humanized mice with HIV via the intra-vaginal route
- DNA/protein based immunization including the use of several adjuvants
Note that each individual project may require additional amendments to the approved protocols or submission of a new protocol. Our core staff will assist the collaborating investigator(s) in the preparation of any new protocols.
